The Shiftkey FAQ
by Alan Meiss

Unleash the Power of Shift!

Q. My shift keys have little arrows on them. Does that mean the *real* shift keys are located above them, and these keys are just little signs to point them out?

A. Nope, they’re the Real McCoy. The little arrows mean “up”, as in “look up at the screen”. Your keyboard is telling you to learn to touch type and quit staring at your fingers.

Q. What happens if I press both shift keys?

A. Even bigger letters may show up on your screen. You should not use this feature, however, because these letters are also brighter, and may cause Screen Burn-In, which would be particularly embarrassing if you were typing something naughty at the time. You might consider obtaining the author’s Shift Key Burn-In Protector program for only $139.95. Or you might not, it’s your computer, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

What’s My Pirate name

Curiosities, Fun, Website

My pirate name is:
Dirty Davy Kidd
Pirate flag
You’re the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean — not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. Even though you’re not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

Get your own pirate name from fidius.org.

Sydney Cove Panorama

Multimedia, VR

Stumbled upon a page with lots of panoramic VRs from Sydney, and I really liked one of Sydney Cove with Harbour Bridge and The Opera house.
Check it out at Peter Murphy’s Panoramic VR Weblog

del.icio.us

Information Technology

del.icio.us is a social online service that lets you store bookmarks online. Useless you think? Something you don’t need because your browser already handles your bookmarks? Well… del.icio.us is more than just a simple online bookmark service. It let you share bookmarks with others (okay, so don’t bookmark your really bad dark secrets on del.icio.us), but it also let you put tags on bookmarks. This is a very useful feature since it’s quicker to find bookmarks if you just remember what it’s about, but not the URL or the name of the bookmark. It’s also easier to discover new websites based on what other people have tagged their bookmarks.

It all works by just signing up, and then add a couple of simple bookmarks to your bookmark toolbar which let you add the current website to your online bookmark collection, one to see other people who have bookmarked the same page and a link to your own del.icio.us homepage.

You can all go to my del.icio.us homepage to see my online bookmarks. It is also available as a RSS feed, which is used to show the last bookmarks down on the right side of this page.
